Voicethread resources you NEED to SEE!

Good morning everyone,

By now most of you have probably heard about Voicethread.com, the terrific, free (for K-12 educators), collaborative multimedia storytelling web application that is spreading around the world like wildfire. I’ve spoken about it many times, but today I want to briefly mention a couple of OUTSTANDING resources I’ve recently discovered that will make your use of this classroom tool a LOT easier.

The first one is the Digitally Speaking wiki on Voicethread, probably the best single resource available anywhere that explains not only what a this tool is all about but how to plan, implement, manage and assess a Voicethread project with your students. Everything is here, from sample Voicethreads to sources for images and citation guidelines, even instructions on how to teach students to moderate their own comments. Even if you are already familiar with Voicethread, you should check this wiki out. Truly amazing!

The second site, the Voicethread 4 Education wiki, is the most comprehensive collection of educational Voicethreads I’ve ever seen! With categories running the gamut from K-20, including district administration, ESL/EFL, and Library, this collection is sure to whet your appetite and let you SEE this tool’s possibilities IN ACTION. There’s even a link to this wonderful Slideshare presentation (October, 2008) by Suzi Vesper:

Voicethread is a terrific, simple, powerful vehicle for student self-expression, collaboration and communication. Its founders enthusiastically support the K-12 marketplace, offering free “Pro” accounts to K-12 educators as well as attractively priced subscription options for their “education only” product. Voicethread belongs in your 21st century toolkit and getting started has never been easier thanks to these resources. Now get out there with your students and have some fun!

Hope this helps!
