Schooled by the Grammar Ninja!

Good morning all,

Came across this site last month, it’s been sitting in my Delicious favorites since the day after Christmas (I never stop working, lol) … I was impressed by its simplicity, design and outright fun. It’s not a heavyweight by any means but it’s definitely worth sharing as a single-purpose activity. Thanks to Pat Hensley, today we’re talking about Grammar Ninja!

Grammar Ninja is really simple. Choose a level of difficulty and then start answering questions! Three levels of difficulty await you, along with rich graphics, music and fun sound effects:

It’s fast, it’s fun, the sound effects are terrific, and you get a score at the end, making it potentially useful as an assessment tool. I could definitely see it being fun for reviews before a test using an interactive whiteboard or possibly even a competition between teams in class. It’s really fun to play, if you teach grammar, check this out for sure!

Hope this helps,

-kj-

I love it! I just wish there were more sentence variety in it. Two or three times through and you’ve seen most of the sentences.

Dan did you try the downloadable sentence creator? There’s a link right at the bottom of the screen, along with a Wii version!

What a great site! Thanks for sharing Kevin. I can’t wait to show this to my elementary teachers. The kids are sure to get a kick out of it on the SmartBoard!

Hi Andrea, thanks for commenting. What it lacks in depth being such a single-purpose site it more than makes up for with sound effects and visuals, doesn’t it? Now, if we could just show that kids LEARN while using it! :-)
