Greetings all,
NASA has a free satellite mapping utility worth checking out:
http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/
It’s like Google Earth, but a bit more sophisticated, and geared to the science geeks among us. It allows you to zoom in and view places on the earth in unprecendented detail. Check out the screen shots, and/or try it and see!
Worldwind is just one of several great resources for educators made available by NASA at:
Happy exploring!

I totally agree with you! World Wind is way better than Google Earth even though it is a little more taxing on your computer
NAME CPU RAM HDD
—————————————————
WorldWind > 1 GHz 256 MB 2 GB
Google Earth > 500MHz 128 MB 400 MB
I still prefer WorldWind and highly recommend it

World Wind was the origin of Google earth. They took what NASA had done and improved and simplified the user interface.
