  • You watch, you know … WatchKnow.org!

    Good morning all,

It’s a familiar scene, one that many of us can relate to personally, sans perhaps the Purple Dinosaur. For me and those of my generation it was Sesame Street, ZOOM, and others, but the intent was the same.

But this is the 21st century, and while kids are still watching plenty of television, this scene is becoming more and more common:

The vast amount of educational content (particularly video) being created and delivered online presents a challenge and an opportunity. For many kids, YouTube is the new Google – they search for everything there. Separating the wheat from the chaff is becoming increasingly difficult. What if there was a people-powered site that gathered, categorized and presented the web’s educational content? Well, now there is! It’s called WatchKnow.org!

Imagine, a safe place for kids and teachers to surf, explore and learn…as easy as a mouse click!

While it’s not realistic to expect a toddler to navigate alone, WatchKnow.org is a promising compendium of educational video content from around the web, helpfully organized and searchable. The site links to, and does not host, the actual content … but it’s all presented within the WatchKnow.org site, without those pesky, annoying, distracting ads and “related videos”. I found the site easy to use and think that teachers and homeschooling parents will, too!

    Hope this helps!
