Our students do a lot of writing, it seems, and are CONSTANTLY working on poetry projects of one kind or another. Unfortunately, the process is often painfully difficult (I can relate, I’m a terrible poet). I’d heard some people talking on Twitter recently about a new resource from BigHugeLabs.com, and thanks to Sue Sheffer’s Diigo feed, I just had a chance to use it. I’m here to proclaim The Big Huge Thesaurus as the coolest, fastest, smartest and most helpful thesaurus on teh interwebz!
You have to love BigHugeLabs.com, a company that truly uses its superpowers for GOOD. The Big Huge Thesaurus is everything you need and nothing you don’t: fast, powerful and clean. Yes, that’s the interface above. But what happens when a kid misspells a word? Let’s find out:

Yes, that page keeps on going! The sharp-eyed among you will notice a word in the “sounds kind of like” section that might attract undue attention, but I followed the link, and there’s nothing to be concerned with there, folks, just move along. The Big Huge Thesaurus appears 100% school safe.
EDIT: OH NO! :( I decided to click the links for “story plot/logline” ideas and they appear to be randomly generated sentences, some of which MAY be a problem, including this gem: “A prostitute buys a toy while watching a play.” BigHugeLabs, HELP!!! :(
