  • Awesome Black Friday Deal! Free invites to Google Wave! Just comment on this post!

Sorry! All 16 invites have been given out – in less than three hours! I’ll post again when I get more to give away! :)

    media_1259323464898.png

Ok fine, it’s not a “Black Friday Deal,” it’s just me announcing I’ve got Google Wave invites to give away to the first sixteen (16) people who comment on this post!

Please remember to provide your email address!

What is Google Wave? This might help:

Wave still makes my head hurt but I’m addicted to learning and so are most of my educator friends. If there’s a way to use this thing to network and learn, we’ll find it!

    See you in the Waves!

P.S. It may take a while, days in fact, for your invite to get processed by Mother Google, so, please be patient! There’s nothing I can do to speed it up. :)
P.P.S. According to Espen these invites may be coming a lot faster than I thought – if so – BONUS!

  1. Just kicking off with a comment; in hope of a Google Wave Invite!

    Best regards from Oslo, Norway.

  2. 1 down! 15 left! Your Wave invite will arrive as soon as you give me your email address, lol! Thanks for reading NCS-Tech and/or following me on Twitter! -kj-

  3. I thought it was enough to leave it under mail in the form, but here it is espenrud[a]gmail.com

  4. Kevin, I DON’T need an invite (I’ve already been assimilated), but I’ve gotta say – as quickly as I usually take to new tech tools, Wave has got me over a barrel. I have played around with it a bit, and I don’t have the slightest idea what I’m supposed to do with it! :-D

I know it’s supposed to ‘replace email’ and all that; judging by the screenshot, you’ve used it much more than I – what are you seeing as the advantages to this app?

I’m as big a Google fanboy as they come, but I’m also getting the sense that Wave is not ready for primetime, and as such, I’m having great difficulty drawing a bead on its potential usefulness.

  5. Me too rcperez at gmail pls !

  6. Looking at the google wave video it looks like you can do whatever you want… As long as everyone you want to do it with are using it as well.

Replacing email… I don’t know, but as a supplement for certain types of communication yes.

I use email alot, and do need it offline as well at times, I subscribe to online exchange server for my family’s email needs and we use shared calendar and in invite eachother to “meetings” to keep both updated on appoinments and such.

Anyway I’m looking forward to checking it out and it will be “fun” to see how it is going to be financed in the future….

How generous! Always enjoy your Twitter posts. Only good things can result from educators collaborating. In the end, students benefit!

  16. Kevin,
Thanks for this great offer! I’ve been champing at the bit ever since I saw the demo of Google Wave, so I’ll be thrilled if I’m one of the sixteen.
Keep up the great posts…they’re very much appreciated.

  17. I’ve been wanting to try Wave for a while. Thanks!

  18. Ok! I have ‘nominated’ these 5 so far:

Alison, julie Lee, Susan, Nick C, Rogerio!

That means I have 10 left. Dcteacher, did you want one?

@Damian – Like I said, wave makes my head hurt. The most useful it’s been for me so far has been for a discussion around an idea for “EdCamp Philly,” basically an education-focused unconference in the spirit of BarCamp Phily. It’s been VERY helpful for brainstorming, but I find the UI very counter-intuitive, it’s been a bit unstable (a few crashes but no lost work thankfully), and the inbox is hard to manage, but that’s just me! Right now I see the biggest advantage for educators to be real-time collaboration with peers. Since you need a Google Account, and those now require a cell phone, people won’t be Waving with students under 13. Perhaps Wave will be made available to Google Apps for Education at some point but I’d bet that’s a ways off. So, explore it as a means to connect with other Wavers, and see where it takes us!

@Espen, I agree, I don’t see it ‘replacing email’ anytime soon, but I think Google’s main goal is to get us interacting and to ‘invent’ a new medium of communication, much the way Twitter has burst on the scene (and become invaluable.)

Ok folks! 10 Google Wave invites left!
