Character Generator – great for descriptive sentences!
4 CommentsGood morning all,
One of my second grade colleagues, Mrs. Mary Kay McGlynn, discovered this gem the other day and used it very successfully with her students. This Character Generator is so easy, anyone can use it to create wacky characters that inspire great descriptive sentences!
Each character starts with the person pictured above. Each click of the four pieces along the side – hair, face, clothes and skin color – results in a change of some kind; there are about a dozen different choices for each component and male / female characters are both provided. Once the student is happy with their character, they can begin writing their descriptive sentences on the left. There is no spell check (which is a good thing!) and printed pages look great. There’s only one possible problem: if the student clicks on the bottom where it says ‘Notes,’ a new page is loaded and their work is lost. Other than that, the site is easy to use, ad-free, loads quickly and generates great output. Hope this helps!

I have used this website in my class to create characters for story starters. Great for working on adjectives, too!
